Privacy Policy
Hey You (“we”) makes the Hey You app (“the app”), which helps you remember to reach out to the people in your life. The app is built so that we never see your information. This policy explains what the app stores, where it's stored, and what we never do.
- No accounts, no sign-up, no Hey You servers.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind.
- The app only has the contacts you choose to add.
- Your data stays on your devices and in your own private iCloud account, where we can't read it.
What the app stores
For each person you add, the app stores:
- their name and phone number;
- any birthday, anniversary, or other special date you add or import;
- the per-contact settings you choose in the app, such as how often to reach out and whether to call or text;
- a history of when you marked a reach-out done or snoozed it.
It also stores your app-wide settings: nudge time, pause status, and message template.
Where it's stored
Everything is stored on your device, protected by iOS's built-in encryption. If iCloud is turned on for Hey You, the same data syncs between your devices through your own private iCloud database. That data belongs to your Apple Account. Apple handles storage, and we can't access it.
Turning off iCloud for Hey You in your device's Settings stops syncing. Deleting the app removes its data from that device. You can delete the synced copy in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Contacts
The app uses the iOS contact picker, so it never asks for access to your whole address book. When you pick someone, only their name, phone number, and any birthday or anniversary are copied in. Nothing else is copied.
Notifications
Nudges are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved, and no notification content leaves your phone.
What we never do
We don't collect, sell, share, or analyze your data. The app doesn't include any third-party analytics or crash-reporting code. Crash reports are only shared if you've turned on Apple's "Share with App Developers" setting. Apple anonymizes those reports, and they don't contain contact information.
This website
get-hey-you.com is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may log basic technical information, such as IP addresses, to operate and secure the service. We don't add analytics or tracking to this site.
Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect any information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
